Cake Servings

There is always a question on the size of a cake and how many people will it serve.  The general size of a piece of cake really depends on how many layers you have.  A two layer cake will have less servings than a three layer cake because the more layers you have the smaller piece of cake you will have to slice.  It will also depend on whether the cake is for a formal gathering, such as a wedding or a party that will be at a reception/party venue.  These slices of cake will tend to be cut much smaller.  However for a small party, whether at home or smaller venue, the slices tend to be cut larger.  It also will depend on if you want your guests to have more than one slice of cake.

Here is a chart that will help you when you are choosing your cake.  After all you don't want to have more cake than you need.
